I had another idea or two for this post but my newly found blog buddy, Juliana over at General Gibberish said something that gave me inspiration soooo…
am I cheating?
Our assignment for Day 9 of Blogging U. 101 is to get inspired from our About Me page. She made a comment there and said, “I wonder about those initial photographs you must have taken.”
I couldn’t find any from my time in the military. I might have one or two in the attic but who knows. There are a lot of boxes up there. I did find these on an old external drive. Here are four dating from 2000 through 2003. Would love to know what you think.
This one I took while on assignment for the local paper. I was covering a small rodeo and met one of the barrel racers. I don’t recall her name or much about her but that she seemed rather nice, was very attractive and looked good in her jeans. I like the card symbols on her spurs.
I’ve always loved this picture. It’s a picture of a friend of mine’s daughter holding a nest that she found at her house. I could hardly believe how old it is! When I looked at the file info I saw that I took this photo exactly 14 years ago to the day!
This was the first image of what I hoped would be a series that had a religious/spiritual aspect to them. I only got four photos taken and never completed the series. This was my favorite of the four and always found it… what’s the word?… I don’t know, funny in a way.
And then this one. I absolutely adore this one. It was taken in April of 2001 just before I married my second wife. It reminds me of a really wonderful time despite how things ended. I have no idea where the original print is and cut the negative so unless the print is in my attic or some other really safe place this digital copy is the only one I have of it.

Love the last pic – I have rings on m toes too. Another coincidence is that my late hubby was in the Australian Army, where I first met him as I worked in the Defence Dept.
Great shots! It’s always so interesting to go back and find some of our old stuff. Some happy, some sad, some just what they are.
Your photographer’s eye is marvelous! Leaves me feeling a bit envious, yet inspired, so that’s a wonderful thing.
Can I send you my camera, have you take pictures, and then claim them as my own? Or does it not work that way? Drat.
In all seriousness, those are my kind of photos – they speak without words.
I know there are some people who throw around LOL almost as a placeholder of sorts. But the first half of this comment LITERALLY made me laugh out loud.
